A portable motor that clips onto the front wheel in about 5 seconds, with no tools. It turns your city, road or hybrid bike, even a shared bike, into an e-bike for a fraction of the price of a new one.

Commuter ($499) has a single battery pack and goes 6 to 8 miles. Explorer ($599) has a dual pack and goes 12 to 18 miles. Both assist up to 15 mph and charge in 40 minutes. Commuter weighs 8.7 lb (3.9 kg); Explorer weighs 9.7 lb (4.4 kg).

CLIP fits city, road and hybrid bikes with a 27 to 28 inch (700c) front tire. It does not fit suspension forks or cargo bikes. If your bike is outside that range, neon fits wheels from 16 to 29 inches.

Yes. Friction drive powered the VeloSoleX, which sold over 8 million units. CLIP uses the same simple principle with modern materials, a dedicated battery management system and regenerative braking that recovers energy on descents.

A lithium-ion pack with its own battery management system that regulates charging and discharging. CLIP carries UL 2271 (battery) and UL 2849 (e-bike electrical system) certification. A full charge takes 40 minutes.

CLIP has a 12-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects. In the first 6 months we repair or replace your CLIP and cover shipping both ways. From month 7 to 12 we repair it free with new or refurbished parts, and you cover shipping.

Add CLIPCARE for $99 and you get an extra year of coverage, with warranty shipping on us.

The warranty does not cover accidents, normal wear, or a CLIP altered or repaired by someone we have not authorized. It applies to CLIPs bought from us or an authorized dealer.

Both travel with you. The 3.5 lb neon comes off the wheel in seconds and goes in your bag. With it off, your bike rides like a normal analog bike, so you choose electric or analog every time you head out.

Swap your front wheel for the neon wheel. It takes about 10 minutes: two nuts, with the wrench in the box. Disc-brake bikes take about 6 extra fasteners to fit the rotor and caliper. If you would rather not do it yourself, a partner bike shop can fit it for you.

Almost certainly. neon fits wheels from 16 to 29 inches, so it works on folding bikes, city and commuter bikes, hybrids, road bikes, bikes with suspension forks, cargo bikes and trikes.

Assist goes up to 20 mph in the US, which is Class 1. In the EU, neon meets EPAC rules, with assist up to 25 km/h.

neon is pedal-assist with no throttle, built to Class 1 rules. In most US states that means no license and no registration, and you can ride anywhere a regular bike can go. Check your local rules.

Yes. neon weighs 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) and comes off the wheel in seconds. It holds the battery, controller and connectivity, so the valuable part of your e-bike goes where you go: into your bag, onto your desk, inside to charge. What stays on the street is an ordinary-looking wheel.

neon has a 12-month warranty, and you can return it within 30 days. Batteries on a plan are covered for as long as your plan runs, including free replacement when they fade.

The battery is the part of any e-bike that wears out. On a plan we replace fading or dead batteries free, upgrade you to new batteries as they come, and recycle the old ones responsibly.

Batteries swap in seconds. Each weighs 0.7 kg and has a USB-C port to charge your phone. They are the same UL-certified batteries we use in CLIP. Only the battery swaps; the rest of neon stays as it is.

Yes, anytime. Pause for the winter and restart in spring. Your bike works as a regular bike the whole time.

About 35 minutes from empty to full, for each battery. Swap in a fresh one when you are low and charge the empty one while you work.

They come back to us. Because we keep ownership, every neon battery is returned for recycling instead of ending up in a drawer or a landfill. Modern battery recycling recovers over 95% of the cobalt, nickel and copper, and over 90% of the lithium.

An e-bike subscription for New Yorkers. You get a step-through city bike with front and rear racks, fitted with neon, plus a battery, charger, tune-ups and repairs, for one monthly price.

$49 a month on a 12-month plan, $59 a month on a 6-month plan, or $69 a month with no term. Students get 20% off the 6-month plan, which works out to $47.20 a month.

neonfleet is one flat monthly price, from $49, for your own e-bike at home with the battery, tune-ups and repairs included. Citi Bike e-bike rides add a per-minute charge, so the cost climbs with every ride.

Yes. You sign riders up and keep their bikes rolling. You earn 10% of every subscription you sign, paid monthly for up to 24 months, plus $10 a month for every fleet bike you look after. We own the bikes and neon units, handle billing and swap any faulty neon by post. There is no inventory to buy.

Yes. Sponsors put their brand on every neonfleet bike in a chosen neighborhood, ridden daily by commuters. Send a sponsor request on neonfleet.bike.

CLIP Commuter and Explorer ship across the US from Brooklyn, usually within a week. In Europe, they ship to France, the Netherlands and Germany from our hub in Nice, France. neon ships to the US and EU, with deliveries starting March 2027. neonfleet bikes are delivered to your door in Brooklyn.

You can return CLIP within 30 days. If you attend the onboarding session, return shipping is on us. If you skip it, you can still return within 30 days, but you pay return shipping.

Returns must be complete and in resellable condition. A damage fee of up to 100% may apply to damaged items or items with missing parts.

A neon reservation costs $50 and is fully refundable. We confirm with you and charge the balance before your neon ships.

Yes. Our batteries and systems carry UL 2271 and UL 2849 certification, the standard major US retailers require. neon uses the same UL-certified batteries as CLIP.
