neon is the best way to turn the analog bike you love into a full-blown e-bike. As neon, the motor lives in the wheel, so swapping that wheel on is the whole install. Everything else, the battery, the brains, the connectivity, lives in the NEON core unit: one small unit that slots in to ride and slips out to come with you, into your bag or onto your desk to charge. Take the core and all that's left on your bike is a quiet, ordinary-looking wheel. No bars to wire, no box to mount, no cables. If you've ever changed a flat, you already know how to do this.
Right. You keep the bike you already own and love. neon makes it electric. That's the whole idea. We don't sell bikes. We sell the thing that turns your bike into an e-bike.
Good question! They're built for different riders, not better or worse. CLIP commuter and Explorer models are designed to clip on and off in seconds, so you can move it between bikes and mostly for riders who need moderate e-bike assist some days of the week. Neon on the other hand is designed for people who ride long and ride daily over bigger hills, where you want the bike to just be electric, pretty much all the time. If your bike is the bike you live on, NEON is the one. Pick based on how you ride, not on a spec sheet.
No. And let's be honest, that's exactly what most conversion kits are: a motor, a controller box you zip-tie somewhere, a battery you strap to the frame, and a rat's nest of cables connecting all of it. We didn't want any of that. NEON is two pieces that matter: a wheel with the motor in it, and the core that does everything else.
